Oxford and Cambridge each qualified two teams to 2023’s BUSA Finals which was hosted by CUCrC at Grafham on 11-13 April. Both competitors and event officials were met with a challenging set of conditions across the 3 days, and despite a significant AP on Wednesday, each team had completed 12 races in the Swiss stage by the time the competition moved to knockouts on Thursday afternoon.
Cambridge Red (4th), Oxford Blue (5th), and Cambridge Blue (8th) qualified from the Swiss league to the quarter-finals, where Cambridge Blue beat Exeter Blue, and Oxford Blue beat Cambridge Red. This set up a Cambridge Blue-Oxford Blue semi-final, which was narrowly won by Cambridge, whilst UCD beat Southampton Green in the other semi-final.
The final was won by UCD 3-1 Cambridge Blue, whilst the petit-final was won by Southampton Green 2-0 Oxford Blue. As the top-ranked British team, this meant Cambridge won the BUCS title, ahead of Southampton Green with Oxford Blue 3rd BUCS team.
