Womens National Team Racing Championships 2019 Details
Oxford and Cambridge stamped their authority on the first day of racing, with Sevenoaks School chasing hard in third place. A light and variable wind gave both competitors and race officers a testing time, with some ragged starts resulting. At the end of the day Cambridge had a clean slate of 11/11, Oxford 9/11, and Sevenoaks 9/12.
Conditions were similar on the Sunday, with racing split into Gold, Silver, and Bronze leagues. It was an Oxford-Cambridge final and the encounter lived up to expectations with the result in doubt until the last mark of the last race in the final. There Oxford managed a textbook conversion from 2, 3, 6 to 2, 3, 4 to give them the race, match, and title.
Congratulations to Ed Morris and his team, including Race Officers and Umpires, for running a great event. Also a big thank you to Spinnaker for their continuing support of team racing events.
