A warm welcome to 2025 from the committee to members new and old. Some dates for your diary and other updates.

Itchenor Swallows Match - 1st June 2025

OCSS are defending their title here (for the first time in a while!) so would be great to get another strong team out this year. As a reminder, the ISC members generously provide the boats, you just need to pay for lunch, making this extraordinarly good value day out.

There is also the possiblity of getting some "training" in via club racing the day before (Sat 31st May), with an informal dinner. Saturday accomadation TBC. Let me know if making a weekend would be of interest.

Varsity Match - 30 June / 1st July

The Varsity Match this year is also at Itchenor. If you'd like to watch / assist / attend a mid event dinner on Monday 30th please get in touch.

Generations - 4th October 2025

Generations returns ... please let Hugh Tomkins if you have any feedback on the event or evening venue from last year.

Memberships

Amanda, the recently elected president, is keen to retrospectively gather potential OCSS members that we have missed over the decades. The current member guidelines are as follows:

• Full blue - elect
• Half blue & club contribution - elect
• Significant club contribution (Commodore / Event Organisers) - elect
• i.e. a committed and engaged sailor on either Oxford or Cambridge team should easily make a case for being eligible for joining. (Occasionally varsity match teams feature a sailor that is capable but makes no other effort to participate with CUCrC / OUYC, hence "Half Blue AND club contribution".)
